Girih draws inspiration from the intricate patterns found in traditional Islamic mosaic wall tiles, blending the richness of heritage with a contemporary twist. The varying shades of blues and greens evoke a sense of calm reminiscent of tranquil waters, creating a harmonious blend that complements both traditional and modern interiors.
Intricately hand-knotted in Afghanistan in a 45/45 Persian knot quality, using fine, long-fibre Ghazni wool, natural vegetable and mineral dyes, and a variety of regional weaving techniques, all of which lend a unique character to Afghan made rugs.
Created in collaboration with Turquoise Mountain, which was founded in 2006 by His Majesty King Charles III in order to protect and revive Afghanistan’s historic craft, artisan traditions and skills which date back thousands of years.
