ABOUT THE ARTIST
Roos Soetekouw is a designer who works from her studio near Amsterdam. Soetekouw loves nature and its unusual shapes and colours. Her works show an explosion of discoveries. Each design is a result of a personal journey, a discovery in form, color, weaving technique and material.
Her research is mostly expressed in textile designs or interior accessories. Her love for textiles goes deep, the warmth and protection provided by textiles is in line with the world Roos wants to create. Her woven textiles are designed such that both sides of the end product are different but equally interesting.
YMK Atelier Soetekouw brings handmade, exclusive products to the market. This atelier stands for discovering, designing, inspiring and innovating and is thus at the cutting edge of art and design.
Soetekouw and Knots Rugs were introduced to each other through Lucy Upward of Cover magazine. The Knots Rugs team were immediately struck by the elegance of Soetekouw’s designs, characterised by an outspoken, visual story and careful detailing. For the Knots Rugs collection, Soetekouw designed rugs based on her 'Fringe' collection. Classic in design, the carpet speaks of pure sophistication and the Scandinavian colouration works beautifully within the modern home. As its name suggests, the rug comes with an array of interesting fringing, with silk, linen and plaiting woven into the dyed cotton warps.
