Benat Oe
San Sebastián–born artist Beñat creates bold monochrome works defined by texture, depth, and the endless possibilities of black. After early years in the fashion industry, he moved to London to study fine art, where his practice evolved into a distinctive language of abstraction.
Rejecting colour for its immediate associations, Beñat explores black as both material and metaphor—shifting from matte to glossy, thick to fluid, combining mediums to reveal subtle warmth, coolness, and energy. His process is intuitive and unplanned, each piece emerging through layers of work, reuse, and reinvention.
For Beñat, art is not about inspiration but discipline: showing up daily, allowing form to unfold. Translated into hand-knotted rugs, his textured abstractions become tactile landscapes, inviting viewers to experience presence without narrative.
