ABOUT THE ARTIST
German Artist Stefan Heyer specialises in gestural abstract paintings which are extremely layered as he drips paint and scrawls words with the use of mixed mediums including oil paints, phototransfer, dried plants, emulsion, pencil and oil pastels on canvas, giving these abstract pieces their intriguing complexity.
Using a combination of intuitive physicality of highly energetic trance-like strokes and mark makings, along with a more highly conscientious process, Heyer’s works are an exploration of histories, both personal and shared, and are inspired by pop culture, esoteric and philosophical issues and nature

'AWAKEN THE SPIRITS PART 1'
Part of the latest Artist Collaboration collection with German Artist Stefan Heyer, ‘Awaken The Spirits Part 1’ is a diptych design (meaning an artwork consisting of two pieces). This piece has been skilfully hand-knotted in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal, using the world’s oldest traditional skills in the finest Tibetan wool and Chinese silk.

From canvas to carpet, in this original piece, Heyer has even included the use of dried plants and other foraging. Hand-knotted in a fusion of wool and silk, the lustrous accents encourage you to look closer and discover Heyer’s signature writing hidden within the design.
'THE RAW EARTH'
The latest addition to the highly successful Artist Collaboration Collection with German Artist Stefan Heyer, ‘The Raw Earth’ has been skilfully hand-knotted in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal using the world’s oldest traditional skills in the finest Tibetan wool and Chinese silk. The Raw Earth won Best Modern Design Select at the 2024 Domotex Carpet Design Awards.
Knots Rugs fourth instalment of the ‘Your Floor Is The Canvas’ features four designs, translating Stefan Heyer’s original contemporary mixed media artwork into modern masterpieces. Each piece has been skilfully hand-knotted in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal using the world’s oldest traditional skills and the finest Tibetan wool and Chinese silk.
