2023 RECAP: A YEAR OF SHOWS

As we come to the end of 2023, we thought we would recap the incredible shows that we have exhibited at over the past year.

Throughout the year, we've travelled the globe, showcasing our exquisite rugs at numerous international exhibitions.

COVER CONNECT LAS VEGAS: SURFACES, TISE

We started the year at COVER Connect Las Vegas, which took place from 31st January to the 2nd February. This was the first West Coast edition of COVER’s boutique trade show which was held within Surfaces as part of The International Surface Event (TISE). This is an enormous show drawing buyers for all kinds of flooring including stone, tile, wood and carpet.

The COVER Connect Las Vegas pavilion shone a spotlight on handmade rugs and buyers and retailers from across North America and Canada were pleased to encounter the nine exhibiting brands in this location for the very first time!

We took a number of designs from our different collections, including Hudson Black & White (pictured left) and The Path of Hollow Words by Stefan Heyer. We previewed a sample of our new 17th Century collection design 'Phoenix' which has since launched.

We were also selected as part of the TISE Favourite Find Tour where we debuted our new Anonymous Artist Collaboration designs Flow 1 and Flow 2 which together form a diptych design.

LONDON DESIGN WEEK: DESIGN CENTRE, CHELSEA HARBOUR

London Design Week, hosted at the prestigious Design Centre Chelsea Harbour took place from March 13th to the 17th, where we had the privilege of exhibiting our latest designs, just around the corner from our London showroom on the Kings Road.

The event proved to be an immersive experience, overflowing with creative ideas, design expertise and boundless inspiration. Over the course of five days, the show seamlessly blended the excitement of new product launches with meaningful design encounters. For us, it was an unparalleled opportunity to showcase the meticulous craftsmanship and artistic ingenuity behind our designs.

We previewed our newest 17th Century collection design 'Phoenix' (pictured right, on the floor) which was inspired by a 16th Century Timurid lacquered Diwan book cover of romantic poetry by the celebrated Persian poet, Hafiz. This design is made up of historical mystical creatures, traditional arabesque design and complex floral scrolls in shades of gold with accents of black and has been Persian knotted by our weavers in Jaipur, India.

Design Week at Chelsea Harbour not only served as a pivotal moment on the design calendar but also allowed us to connect with a diverse audience of design enthusiasts, industry professionals, and fellow creatives, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and passion for the artistry of rugs.

COVER CONNECT: MANHATTAN, NEW YORK

COVER Connect New York made a triumphant return to Manhattan from September 9th until the 11th. CCNY showcases an array of remarkable rug makers at The Altman Building and The Metropolitan Pavilion. Here we launched our latest Artist Collaboration collection with the talented paper marbling artist, Nat Maks. This collection boasts eight unique designs, each a testament to the fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary artistry. The vibrant patterns and intricate details created by our collaboration added a captivating dimension to our repertoire.

Despite the inclement weather, including downpours and Hurricane Lee, the disruptions failed to dampen everyones spirits. There was a constant flow of visitors, showcasing resilience against the elements. We also unveiled a stunning new design in collaboration with our existing artist partner, Stefan Heyer.

Complementing these collaborations, our in-house design team proudly presented fresh additions to our Abstract collection, including Fleur, Sahara and Reflections. This diverse range of artistic expression underscored our commitment to pushing the boundaries of creativity within the realm of hand-knotted rugs, making our show at New York a true celebration of artistry and craftsmanship.

DECOREX: OLYMPIA, LONDON

Decorex took place from October 8th to the 11th at London Olympia. Returning for a third year in a row, this trade fair is an international event dedicated to interior design, bringing together the best of the design community where industry professionals and like minded creatives can explore an exceptional selection of the most coveted brands, as well as brand-new and much-loved collections.

This year’s show revealed collective optimism that sustainability is now a non-negotiable design feature for the majority of the more than 250 brands that we exhibited alongside.

We were also joined by our latest Artist Collaborator, Nat Maks, who hosted workshops where she demonstrated her paper marbling craft.

Once again we were thrilled to be part of this dynamic event and the positive reception to our latest collections reaffirmed our commitment to bringing unparalleled elegance and style to homes through our hand-knotted rugs.

We would like to say a huge thank you to every single person that stopped by our stand to view our new collections and we would like to give a special thanks to the team at Ben Whistler Furniture for kindly lending us all of the wonderful furniture and also Havwoods for supplying the beautiful flooring.

CARPET DIEM: PARIS, FRANCE

Our final show of the year was the very first edition of Carpet Diem which was held in Paris from the 10th to the 12th November, at Espace Commines.

Independent artists as well as established brands from 16 different countries revealed their current textile creations, combining various techniques, materials and textures. Sixty rugs and tapestries in total were selected and then presented in the form of a labyrinth which was designed by scenographer Hervé Sauvage.

Carpet Diem is the latest exhibition envisaged, curated and organised by Paris based Italian Francesco Pirrello. Some of the industries most creative rug brands were involved. Hung like paintings, each design was discovered one by one as viewers moved through the labyrinth construction

We chose to display our latest Artist Collaboration design with Nat Maks 'Dreamland' which had a great response.

The show of contemporary textile creation was open to professionals and the general public and the plan is to make this an annual event, taking place in different cities worldwide and coinciding with other events with a crossover clientele of interior designers, collectors and galleries looking to source high-end art and design pieces.

'AT THE END OF THE DAY'

At the End Of The Day is an interpretation of a painting by the renowned English Artist George Morton-Clark. This stunning piece conveys the meticulous brush strokes and energy of the original artwork, with over a month spent dying the wools, and total of 65 colours used, the attention to detail is astounding.

'PUPPIES ON THE TRACK'

Puppies On The Track is an interpretation of a painting by the renowned English artist George Morton-Clark. The original artwork has a strong street art feel and an energetic burst of expression in vibrant reds and yellow. This piece is one of the artists personal favourites and has been kept in his own collection.
